Cut Off Your Thumbs.db
     - Friday, June 17, 2005For the security conscience you should know that Windows is secretly caching your images. Directories which are viewed in thumbnail view each get a little hidden file called Thumbs.db which is essentially a cache of the images. The idea is to make loading the thumbnails quicker next time you view them. No harm, unless you don't want to leave tracks of the images you view.
To rid yourself of these nasty little trackers, you'll need to turn off the caching option in windows. Just go to the View tab in the Folder Options off the Tools menu and check "Do not cache thumbnails". This will stop XP from creating thumbs.db files.
If you want to search your system for the files, be sure to check Search Hidden Files and Folders.
