Domain Transfer Process Tips and Advice
     - Wednesday, September 29, 2004
Moving your domains from an evil registrar to one run by humans can save your sanity. However, the process of making that move is often not nearly as enjoyable as the dentist. Not to worry, I'm here to help my faithful readers.
First, confirm the accuracy of the email address of the Administrative Contact currently setup on the domain. Next, initiate the request with the new registrar. The new registrar will email the admin contact for approval. If you're also the admin contact, you'll get this email. Be sure to respond and approve the transfer, usually by entering a confirmation code.
With approval in hand, your new registrar will inform the registry of the change. The registry will inform the old registrar. Sometimes the old registrar also sends an email to the admin contact to double-check the approval. Eventually, the registry will inform everyone that the transfer has occurred.
There, now that wasn't so hard, was it?
