Happy Birthday Complex Distress!!!!!
     - Saturday, August 14, 2004
It's been almost a year since I first started posting to Complex Distress. Although I was off to a slow start, it seems I'm building some steam. During 2003, I only posted 17 times, and even skipped an entire month! In the first 7 months of this year, I've posted the remaining 83 times, making this post number 100.
According to the logs, there's been a total of over 1,000 visitors to the site. Daily average is about 10 to 15 visits, most of which come from search links. I've given up on trying to build a regular readership. Not that I don't want that, it's just not the goal. Sure, some people may drop by regularly, just like I do with other sites. But the posts are usually too diverse to draw a particular crowd. I find it hard to write about a more narrow topic, and find a general topic is more flexible.
For now, I'm happy to post about things I find interesting, in hopes that the posts will find their way into useful search results. I also treat the site like a personal memory log. It helps me keep track of details that I know I'll need a year from now.
If you're interested in writing your own blog, I highly recommend it. It's so easy at blogger.com that it's a shame not to share your thoughts. As long as you not worry much about the pressure to post often. Think long term about the ultimate collection you will have created. It's really about quality and not quantity.
