Replay Radio -- Record Your Favorite Shows

     - Thursday, June 24, 2004

Their tag line is "It's like a VCR for internet radio" which describes it pretty well. I'm a gigantic public radio junkie. And now that my commute is measured in seconds not minutes, I don't get to catch all my favorite shows. This software will record the programs for me into mp3 files on my machine. Then I just need to burn them to CD. There's a demo version, but you can only record 3 minutes. I'll let you know how it goes, and if I really fork over the $30 to register so I can record longer shows.

I'd use the ATI All-In-Wonder, some of the models can do old fashioned through-the-air radio in addition to TV. But those are a little pricier than $30.

This is a good point. Part of the problem is that I live out in the middle of nowhere. Half the shows I can't even get out here. So internet broadcasts really are the best way to record the shows.

And with Winamp - internet TV! (of course, most of it is pr0n)

I've used streambox! VCR with success for exactly the same thing - ripping live broadcast streams of DJs to [in my case] .wav's for burning to CD and archiving. Works really well.
