Bought a New eMachines T3085 Computer

Went down to Best Buy today and got a new eMachine T3085. What I ended up with was a little better than I was planning, but I'm really pleased. Here are the specs. With tax and minus the rebate which I'll get in 8 weeks, the total was $660. So, I'm happy with the machine.

I'm not so happy with Best Buy or the sales guy. Before he would get me the computer, here are the things he tried to sell me:
  • Windows Updates for $29.99 - He said that connecting my computer to the internet without this service will likely immediately infect my machine with a virus
  • Service Plan, 3 Years, $150 - Said that computer's are more complicated than ever and the machines easily break down, so it's good protection for my investment
  • AVR Power Strip for $30 to $200 - So that I don't "fry" my motherboard!
I can't believe he said "Virus Infection", "Fried Motherboard", and "Broken Parts" before even getting the machine! I think there should be a law against these kinds of scare tactics.

When I declined all his offers, he told me "Good Luck" with a tone that said "Boy are you a fool". Apparently Best Buy is the auto machanic rip-off scam of the future. Follow the advice I put out last year, and DON'T BUY ANYTHING ELSE when you get your computer. If you really need it, you can order it online with your new computer!

Hello,
Bought the same machine, It's actually a goo gaming PC after a vioe card upgrade.... but yes, I got the same BS from Best Buy about the "your a sucker" for not buying into the scare tactic. Even the tone of voice was the same... too bad, love best buy but, feel sorry for anyone uneducated in PC's that gets the "ruff up"
