File Sizes and Folder Views
     - Friday, May 07, 2004Unlike drawers full of manila folders, Windows files and folders can be viewed with a varying level of detail, and in a number of different ways.
For example, maybe you want to see just Icons, or maybe you want to see the name and sizes of your files. Showing your files with different views is pretty easy: Just click on the View menu and select Thumbnails, Tiles, Icons, List, or Details. The details view has been my long-time favorite because it lets you see the file's size. These days I've become chummy with the Tiles view. You'll just have to try them each for yourself.
You can even organize your files into groups with headings, say, by artists name for music files. Maybe a fluff feature, but still fun. Here's a great page that explains the whole thing. Even have some great illustrated pictures.
